CONNECTICON!!!!!

So Connecticon was pretty awesome as Drakes post already showed. But there is so much that happens at a con as big as connecticon it takes more than one post to contain the pure awesomeness of it all.

Like all Cons Connecticon started out small but it’s grown significantly in just a few short years. Drake and I have been attending Connecticon since it’s first year at it’s current location (the Hartford convention center). The Convention center seemed so big that year and every year since then we’ve shared the center with some other convention. One year it was some kind of big Juggling competition. Another year it was a fly fishing convention. I always wonder what these people must think of us all parading around with our costumes and pocky and the caffeine induced madness in our eyes. But this year even though it’s only the 4th year at the convention center they had outgrown only using half of the facility. They actualy had to take over the entire downstairs so now we have the entire place. In fact they’re so big the convention center along isn’t enough. They had to hold the dances in the ballroom of the attached Marriot.

So as you can see it’s a big convention. Whats nice about it is the fact that while it’s large it hasn’t gotten congested and it’s hasn’t forgotten where it came from. Some larger cons charge crazy amounts of money to attend. Connecticon keeps it reasonable. Also some cons loose focus on what they’re about. Connecticon has many generas represented but it’s never forgotten that it was formed originally as a web comic convention as an alternative to comicon. Webcomicers and Artists in general are given centerstage and there are always some high profile webcomic guests.

Ok ok I know I keep going on about how great connecticon is. Well thats because it is THE BEST convention I’ve ever been to and it’s my favorite by far. Drake and I consider it our home convention, if there is such a thing. But I know you all want to see the pics. So here you go……

I’ll start with some awesome cosplayers.

This girl is an AWESOME corpse bride. I know a few people have thought she looked crappy in the other picture but she didn’t look that way in person. For some reason that pic didn’t come out well but this one came out much much better.

AWESOME Starwars cosplaying. I dunno why but I didn’t end up getting any others of the 501st who were there at the con. Normally I try to get shots of the Storm Troopers in a huge group. It’s usually cool they look like they’re invading but ah well somehow it got forgotten. (i was probably distracted by a hot scantily clad cosplayer…. just kidding sweetie if you’re reading this)

the Crew from Arkham Asylum escaped again and was roaming the con. Some really sweet costumes here. Especially Harley, I always had a thing for her.

Speaking of Harley Quinn Heres a great one of her. I think this was actualy shot by Drake but I’m too lazy to go check his post so If it’s a repeat I’m sorry :p

My favorite cosplay from the con. It’s Pacman and the Ghosts. They actualy ran around and has the ghost chasing pacman. It was really funny.

Sailor Saturn. My girlfriends Favorite sailor scout. I’m partial to Sailor Mercury myself… I didnt see any of her at the con. It made me sad.

Another Sailor Scout! But wait no it’s not another Sailor Saturn. Apparently she was a fan character and she was a very good one. Incidentally I got punched in the arm when I mentioned to my girlfriend that I thought this girl had a really great ass for pulling off a sailor scout costume. (Is he joking? Was he stupid enough to say that? HAHAHAHAHA You’ll never know!!!)

Another of my favorite pictures. It’s Luigi, the Princess, and another Luigi all together. I guess the two luigis have to fight to the death to determine who’s the real one. I personally think one of them was really waluigi in disguise.

*edit* I want to apologize that I didn’t have the post up as early as I wanted to. Asside from the fact it took me a freakin assload of time to sort, edit, and resize all these damn pics I’ve had a number of personal life issues come about, including the tragic death of a stick of ram from my PC. I held a funeral for it then quickly threw it in my busted component box, and installed an old stick I had lying around that happened to match the rest of my ram. IN less tragic (though unpleasant for me) news I’ve been having a lot of issues at my day job away from you cool geeks trying to adjust to a new work schedule where I must wake up at 5 am in order to get there. It’s quite thrilling given I’m used to working nights where I wouldn’t get home until 10 or 11 in the PM. Asside from that I do have some very good and very exciting news though. My Cousins daughter was born either yesterday morning or tuseday night. No one has been available when i called to give me the full story. So we’ll see what happens. But YAY I bet she’s so cute ^_^. His wife however I feel bad about as she was apparently in labor over 24 hours. But in any case these things and a few others have kept me off the net and I apologize. It’s no excuse though, I promised to have this up and I failed. So Now I shall commit seppuku to restore my family’s honor……. ok maybe thats a bit extreme but I am sorry and I hope you all enjoyed the post and pics.
