Autoresponders 101 has hit the Millionaire Geeks Bookshelf! Maybe you have heard of these magical programs called autoresponders before. On Millionaire Geeks we constantly talk about them and tell you how they can do wonders for helping your business making money online. Autoresponders are in essence what allows e-business to function. They allow you to automatically respond to your customers e-mails without having to be at the computer 24/7 or hiring a team of genetically enhanced super monkeys to do it for you.

With an Autoresponder you can achieve many goals that might otherwise become a burden or a financial drain on your company. They allow you to easily schedule the sending of newsletters and deliver them on time without you even being near a computer. Support e-mails can be easily and quickly responded to allowing your customer to know that you did receive their plea for help. Best of all follow up e-mails with customers becomes a breeze. Imagine having hundreds or even thousands of new customers every week each of which you want to send thank you messages, sales pitches for other products, and other messages to help build a relationship. If you had to sit down and do this individually for each new client it would take you forever. But your autoresponder automatically adds their e-mail address to a list and sends them your previously written messages at predetermined intervals. Without this helpful tool many types of online business would be all but impossible.

Mr.J brings you through the basics of how an autoresponder functions and how to get it to work for your business. Many of our geek entrepreneurs will tell you that “it’s all in the list” meaning that the vast majority of their sales come from a strategically targeted mailing list. So check it out! You can find Autoresponders 101 and many more of our custom ebooks in our Millionaire Geeks Bookshelf.

Connecticon… (late yes I know)

CONNECTICON!!!!!

So Connecticon was pretty awesome as Drakes post already showed. But there is so much that happens at a con as big as connecticon it takes more than one post to contain the pure awesomeness of it all.

Like all Cons Connecticon started out small but it’s grown significantly in just a few short years. Drake and I have been attending Connecticon since it’s first year at it’s current location (the Hartford convention center). The Convention center seemed so big that year and every year since then we’ve shared the center with some other convention. One year it was some kind of big Juggling competition. Another year it was a fly fishing convention. I always wonder what these people must think of us all parading around with our costumes and pocky and the caffeine induced madness in our eyes. But this year even though it’s only the 4th year at the convention center they had outgrown only using half of the facility. They actualy had to take over the entire downstairs so now we have the entire place. In fact they’re so big the convention center along isn’t enough. They had to hold the dances in the ballroom of the attached Marriot.

So as you can see it’s a big convention. Whats nice about it is the fact that while it’s large it hasn’t gotten congested and it’s hasn’t forgotten where it came from. Some larger cons charge crazy amounts of money to attend. Connecticon keeps it reasonable. Also some cons loose focus on what they’re about. Connecticon has many generas represented but it’s never forgotten that it was formed originally as a web comic convention as an alternative to comicon. Webcomicers and Artists in general are given centerstage and there are always some high profile webcomic guests.

Ok ok I know I keep going on about how great connecticon is. Well thats because it is THE BEST convention I’ve ever been to and it’s my favorite by far. Drake and I consider it our home convention, if there is such a thing. But I know you all want to see the pics. So here you go……

All Your Database Are Belong To Us!
Posted by Drake at 9:11 am in General, Website Updates

The Millionaire Geeks article database is here! Thanks to the ArticleMS system we now have a completely dynamic and searchable article database! Not only can you search for an article by a keyword but you can also click on the author’s name (unless they are a guest) and see a more detailed profile with a list of the 10 most recent articles that that author has written. You can even subscribe to that author’s specific RSS feed! The folks on the ArticleMS forum were also very helpful in solving our problems and making the database look like the rest of the site so we highly recommend them if you want to have such a database on your own sites as well. Anyway, check it out! All of our original articles are there like “Color and Web Design” and there are over 20 new articles in there as well such as “Why Bother With Plain Text Emails?“! The Millionaire Geeks article database is a great learning tool for getting in-depth information on starting your own business making money online. Our database is still located under the “Articles” link in the menu and we’ll even give you a head start by putting a link to it here!

Another Connecticon has come and gone and I must say, I think that this was the best one yet! There was a lot more room with the dealer room and the artist colony moved downstairs, opening the whole upstairs to events and panels! I think that this was a great idea and I hope that they utilize the space a lot more next year. On top of everything else, this was the second time that Millionaire Geeks has made an appearance at a convention! Mr.J and I got to meet a whole slew of wonderful geeks who seemed more than eager to take advantage of the resources we have to offer here on our site! We hope to see our efforts reflected in the number of people signing up for our newsletter. If you’re reading this and haven’t signed up yet I highly suggest that you do as we are going to be sending out our first official issue at the end of this month!

So with that being said, there were many pictures taken on our journey and we would like to share them with you. Read on to see!

Connecticon 2008
Posted by Kadin at 1:51 am in Adventures, Anime News, Convention, Geek News

Hello everyone, been awhile since I posted anything on here! I would just like to announce that Millionaire Geeks will be making a second convention appearance! This time we will be at Connecticon in Hartford Connecticut. This is by far the most anticipated event for us here at Millionaire Geeks. We love Connecticon and make it a habit to attend every summer! Located in the Convention Center in Hartford, you won’t find a more convenient spot for a con! Connecticon caters to anime and gamer fans alike with anime screenings playing around the clock and a HUGE gaming room. Also this year the dealer room will be located in the gigantic area downstairs freeing up a whole new area for activites and expanding the dealer room to nearly double what it was last year!

Both Drake and Mr.J of Millionaire Geeks will be attending and they will be handing out pins and fliers and of course information! So feel free to meet them, they will be more than happy to introduce themselves and love hearing from people who show an interest in our site. And like last time, we promise pictures! See you there =)

Lets put a smile on that face!

My girlfriend Jen and I went to see the Dark Knight yesterday (Friday the 18th) and right off the bat let me say it was really awesome. At the same time let me say any younger batman fans out there may want to wait a few years before viewing it. While extremely well done the movie was quite dark and (in my opinion) highly inappropriate for younger children.

I know everyone wants to know how was the Joker? Well Heath Ledger did an amazing job. His portrayal blew me away, and thats saying something given the joker is one of my favorite villains of all time. Ledger has created what I consider THE iconic version of the joker. Ledgers joker hearkens back to the twisted mass murdering psychopath the joker was when he first appeared in Batman #1 way back in the 1940’s (thats old school comic love baby). At the same time he manages to combine bits (the best bits) of the joker as he evolved through the years and create something new. No maybe new isn’t the right word. Ledger has managed to portray a pure realistic portrayal of the jokers core essence. In a way with the intensity and depth of his performance I would say Ledger didn’t play the joker, he BECAME the joker. Everyone always of course will compare Ledgers joker with Jack Nicholson’s portrayal. If I were to do that I would say I love them both but Jack was much more the over the top and flamboyant joker of the comics. I also would say when you watch Jack play the joker you can’t help but see Jack playing the Joker. When you watch Heath Ledger play the joker, you see the joker.

Now as much as I loved the joker and Heath deserves all the props I can give there was more to the movie. Harvey Dent was brilliantly played by Aaron Eckhart and of course Christian Bale again completely embodied Batman. Bale gave true emotion and depth to his role as Bruce/Batman and brought across the conflicted nature of his life in a way that no one else has managed to do. I have to say I feel really bad for Bale in a way. If Heath Ledger hadn’t died he and Heath would have probably been promoting the movie together and shared the spotlight even with ledgers brilliant performance. But with his death it leaves Bale somewhat forgotten by both the media and the public in general.

Now before I go any further I want to say I’m going to put the rest of my review under the cut so I don’t’ spoil anything for those of you who haven’t seen the movie.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Final Fantasy XIII Previews At E3 2008
Posted by Drake at 12:57 pm in Geek News

lightning from Final Fantasy XII

Millionaire Geeks is not a game company by any means but we definitely like to keep our members up to date on major events in the gaming community. Probably the biggest event this year aside from Blizzard announcing that there is work being done for a Diablo 3! But along with the announcment that a Final Fantasy XIII is in the works, which is not a surprise because it is a very popular franchise, Square Enix dropped a big surprise on everyone at E3!
